MARY MCGINLEY

At the Actors Real World Studio
Actors Real World Studio is dedicated to teaching technique that is usable for the real-world work situations that professional actors find themselves in, as opposed to the idealistic dream that acting schools and universities feed us. This means learning how to make the best choices fast, and consistently. It means learning how to be flexible, smart and effective. It also means having respect for yourself as a professional and organizing your art like a business. Working with all levels, beginner to advanced, Mary offers a variety of workshops and coaching opportunities to fit your needs.

The Actors Co-Op is a program created by actors for actors. It’s a program where actors get to choose what they work on:
	•	Technique
	•	Scene study
	•	Audition sides
	•	Monologues
	•	Style work
	•	On-camera work
	•	Work is done in a supportive atmosphere where participants can get feedback from their peers if they want it, or from the director who facilitates the group.
	•	The program will end with a spring scene showcase for an invited industry audience for those who wish to participate.
	•	Each participant will receive 2 eCoaching sessions scheduled at the actor's convenience, a $60 value.

Costs are kept low to make this the most reasonable and valuable workshop an actor can participate in: $20 per session. Focus is also placed on networking, career support and professional development. The co-op workshop is facilitated by acting teacher Mary McGinley, a director with 25 years of experience working with actors and in casting offices of regional theaters.

Entrance into the Actor’s Co-Op are by interview/audition only. Please email us for an application.

"Mary saw beyond convention and right into the soul of the character.  She gave me the freedom to explore one of Shakespeare's most three dimensional women with graceful guidance: posing questions when they needed to be posed and giving me space when she knew my process needed it.  I was able to reach the level I knew Juliet needed to get to because of Mary's patience as well as the rehearsal environment she fostered which allowed me to take enormous risks."

“Mary is LMAO funny! Mary directs clearly and concisely, and she gets the most humor out of a situation on stage. She is also compassionate and understanding behind the scenes. She creates a safe environment that brings out the best in most performers (there are few losers even she can't save).”
