We have set, lights, and in a few days, costumes. We had our first “stumble thru” last night- a few holes need fixing- but it is looking good!
Call the box office for tickets: 252-633-0567.
Here is something fun, a Stephen Colbert/Kevin Kline Shakespearean face-off:

But I have to say that working on Shakespeare in general and this play in particular is all consuming! We have a great cast and I’m having a lot of fun, but it is a lot of work. I will try to get some guest blogging going here. It should be fun.

I will show photos and name names soon.

In the meantime, I am getting ready to head up to Shakespeare & Company to commune with the great folks up there and have a real Shakespearean retreat. I find it very renewing to spend a week discussing Shakespeare’s rhetoric and actually finding out how exciting that can be. I’ll bring all my enthusiasm back to all my NC friends. I will try to add some extra entries here to keep you up-to-date and share photos.

Just had my first trip of the season down to New Bern, NC. Pleasant weather for the drive all the way down the east coast until I hit North Carolina. Then the heavens opened up as the light fell. I said: Wait! It’s not hurricane season! This isn’t fair!

The board organized a great party for our supporters- everybody please send big checks. A good time was had by all.

But in the middle of the night I awoke with a stabbing pain. Since I hadn’t eaten or drunk much at the party, I was at a loss for what was going on. I swallowed half a bottle of Pepto and made it through auditions. My hostess Pat, a retired doctor, informed me that I am the proud owner of a full blown ulcer.

It was great to see the folks at auditions. It’s going to be interesting to see how it all works out.

The drive home was difficult. I swigged down a bottle of Maalox and I checked out all the rest stops in VA, Maryland and Delaware. I began to wonder if anyone has reviewed them for Yelp for their variety of amenities. I could have done that.

Getting ready to start the New York auditions now, which will take a couple of weeks, since I have to work around my teaching schedule. I have some great people helping me- thanks Donna, Jim, Bob and Klahr!

Still haven’t heard from Civic about when they would like me to conduct the Audition Workshop for them. But Judy Long says she would like to help with it, too. That would be great!

Geez, now if you want to act in Shakespeare you can just go on line and join a role-playing game, like this one for Romeo and Juliet.
http://jointhesaga.blogspot.com/2009/01/romeo-and-juliet-auditions.html Now you never need to leave your house.

Cheers!
Mary
