I am so proud of them all. Here’s Bill Elsman, who did several roles with us over our beginning years. He did Clown in Winter’s Tale, Oberon in Midsummer and Aguecheek inTwelfth Night.

He’s also the one who started our Karaoke tradition.

Over the past several years he’s been a star on the San Francisco scene. Click here for his latest review.

A. Let us hope that he will raise the standards in LALA land and some of that culture will trickle down to the rest of the nation. I notice for their first performance of the season that they picked one of the meatiest, most high-minded and culturally rich plays in the cannon. I wonder how much it will resemble “I Love Lucy.” Well, I do love Tracy Ulman, so I am sure it will be fun.

Apparently this has been in existence for 25 years. How come we’ve never heard of it?

Pleasant weather the whole time! Crepe myrtle in bloom, daffodils peering - the red blood reigns in the winter’s pale. How I hated to leave and come back to snow yet again.

In case you haven’t heard, we are lucky enough to have Tryon Palace sponsoring us this year. So, we held our Kick-Off Party at the Commission House. The board organized a terrific party for our guests- everybody please send big checks. A good time was had by all.

I also spent two days holding auditions for “Othello.” The auditions were held at The Epiphany School. Thanks Mr. McLaughlin for helping us out! We saw some talented people and we should all have fun working together. If there is anyone out there who would like to work on crew or help with costumes or props, please let me know!

Getting ready to continue the New York auditions now, which will take a couple of weeks, since I have to work around my teaching schedule. I have some great people helping me- thanks Bob and Josephine!

This is going to be a very exciting summer! I am really looking forward to all the work with all these talented people. I am also looking forward to the show opening and my job done, so I can grab a glass of wine at the North Carolina History Center’s cafe, sit and admire the view of the river, and listen to the applause coming from Cullman Hall. Heavenly!

Cheers!
-	Mary

Last weekend my blog entry was late because I was up in the Berkshires at Shakespeare & Company, helping to present their famous “Weekend Intensive.” It was a glorious weekend of the Bard and I got to work with some great actors.

But, don’t feel bad if you missed it! There will be another Weekend Intensive on Oct. 15, 16 & 17 - this time in New York City. I will be helping out again and I hope to see you there. We have set, lights, and in a few days, costumes. We had our first “stumble thru” last night- a few holes need fixing- but it is looking good!
-	Call the box office for tickets: 252-633-0567.
-	Here is something fun, a Stephen Colbert/Kevin Kline Shakespearean face-off:
